Improve Your Search Rankings With Anchor Text

Heres a little tip which will help you achieve better search rankings when requesting inbound links from other people. When i first started building websites I made the common mistake of linking to other peoples sites using their www-address and requesting links using my www-address. That was until i came across a small article explaining how search engines (mainly Google) Use the link text as a factor in deciding where to position you in the rankings

For example if you own a website called www.cd-and-dvd-world.com and people linked to your site using solely your web address, then search engines would have a very vague representation of your site to decide where to rank you!

E.g
www.cd-and-dvd-world.com - Get your low cost blank media from CD & DVD world.

Google would take the words CD DVD WORLD, and use these to position you in the rankings and you would be relying on people searching for the exact phrase "CD and DVD world" to find your page.

Alternatively if you used actual descriptive text to link to your site:

Buy Low Cost CD and DVD media

Then Google would have much more to go off in deciding where to place you in the rankings as it relates to what the site is about.

So if you want to link to www.andy-coates.com/blog, use links like this!
