After browsing the blogosphere I came across this fantastic article via Smart Wealty Rich By Armen at iffect.net: The Ultimate sneaky Tip to increse visitors and traffic. And I must admit that this sneaky and brilliant tip is so obvious that I, and I guess allot of other people have done it themselves and never thought twice about it! So here it is, how to get more traffic, more repeat traffic, and more comments on your blog.

How do you get to peoples blogs you read? Are you subscribed to an RSS feed? Do you type in the URL? Or have you bookmarked their site for future reference? Or do you even follow a link from someone else's site which you know contains the URL? You probably wont think twice about this until you read on……..

Stat Checking……
Apparently one of the most checked stats that webmasters keep an eye on is where their incoming traffic is coming from, when i first started blogging I was guilty of checking my stats 10 times per day but managed to quit this addiction through patches…
Take your mind back to the last time you checked your stats, did you see that someone had visited your site via a link on another blog. And then did you visit that blog after being visited from it? This is repeated the world over every day webmasters check their stats to see where their traffic is coming from and part of blogging nature is to visit the place where we get traffic!

So next time you decide to visit someones blog which you frequent regular, instead of typing in the URL, using an RSS feed, following a bookmark, or even worse visiting through someone else's site, try getting there a different way. If you have their site on your blogroll click through there, or even better if someone has left a comment on your site then use their comment URL to to get to their site. Always if you can visit sites through links linking FROM your site. This will have several benefits to the traffic, comments and repeat traffic on your site…..

Build a positive image of your site

If a webmaster sees their site being visited regularly via YOUR blog they will take more notice of your blog and it will stick in their minds more as being a high traffic blog. This will encourage them to keep visiting your blog and eventually they will probably link back.

Increase your Traffic

Generally a webmaster after checking his or her stats will visit your site, thats one extra hit and probably a few more page views each time that happens. Little extra visits to your site can also quite quickly add up giving you a better return visit figure.

Increase comments

If you have clicked through to someones site via a comment they have left and they revisit you site, most times they will leave a reply comment. This also helps people remember your site.

So there you go, how a simple thing like visiting blogs from your site can increase your traffic, comments and return visits! Bearing in mind that this generally wont work with high traffic blogs as your logged visit will get buried under loads of other visits. ALTERNATIVELY, if you visit several particular sites each day from your blog you may earn a place as a top referrer in their stats, now that is good to raise your profile!!
