Quick tip: Be a better communicator.

The wonderful thing about the human race is that everyone is different in their own unique way, there is no two persons exactly alike in the world, not even identical twins! Although each and every one of us have our unique characteristics we all so share common communication characteristics which help us relate to one another. Communication is just one of the key stages in becoming successful in anything you do, the better you can communicate an idea ad REALLY describe what you want to achieve the more aligned with your goal you will become. Each of us communicate in our own particular way which can be grouped where people share common communication characteristics.

Do you ever catch yourself saying "I see what you mean" or "that feels right to me" or "yeah, I like that idea, it sounds good!" Depending on which type of communicator, and learner you are you will be in one of these three groups which are Kinesthetic (feeling) Visual (seeing) and Aural (hearing). We generally use all of our sense's to communicate but usually we have one particular sense which prevails more than the others, you can easily find out and recognise which kind of communicator you are by using several exercises. First of all, next time you are having a conversation with someone try and make yourself aware of what you are saying, this may feel awkward but will be rewarding when you realise the potential. Eventually you will recognize which words you use to describe something or agree with some one as mentioned above, e.g: see, feel, hear. Alternatively you can read through some old text which you have written, maybe a journal or a blog post and pick out which words you use to describe things most, personally my learning and communication structure runs firstly Visually, then Kinesthetic and finally Aurally.

Convey your ideas more efficiently

Once you have discovered which type of communicator you are you can then easily learn what kind of communicators other people are just by listening for these subtle phrases. From here you can convey your ideas much more powerfully if you try to match the other persons learning and communication type. For example if you are communication with someone who you know is a visual learner you can use visual descriptions to talk to this person, immediately they will relate to you more and will be more responsive to what you are saying. If you were talking about a future project you could say something like, "I can see that this is an excellent plan and visualise great potential when I look ahead in the future" that may sound weird but only because you are now aware of the "Visual" references in there. This is just a basic introduction but a good starting point to help develop your communication skills and inevitabley help you on your way to success! Next time your out with friends give this little communication technique a go, you will be amazed when someones eyes light up when thy understand EXACTLY what you mean!
