One of the biggest blogging mistakes people make when they first start off a new blog to make money with adsense or even monetize an old blog is spend hours, days weeks or even months trying out different AdSense combinations/placement. Im not saying their is anything wrong with experimenting with different types of ad placement but you can spend TOO MUCH TIME doing this instead of spending that time writing quality content. To make any reasonable money with AdSense you really need to be in the blogging game for the long term, you wont get rich overnight! First of all you must consider the amount of people who visit your page and the amount who visit your page and click on an advert. The percentage who click on an advert verses the amount how visit is called the Click Through Rate or CTR for short. The average CTR is between 1% and 5% across the board, you may get days where you CTR is higher or even lower but overall this IS what you can expect in the long term. This is where it turns into a numbers game, instead of concentrating on getting you advert placement how you want it, concentrate on building tour traffic flow as the more traffic means more potential clicks on your adverts. Write articles which will get ranked well for particular keyword searches. My post "how to profit from adsense" which ranks number 7 in a Google search for that particular phrase. I know 10,000's of people every day search for how to make money from AdSense so if i can get some of that traffic with a good article which ranks in the to 10 I am increasing my traffic and the potential clicks on adverts. So if you really want to make some money online using AdSense concentrate more on writing posts which will rank well rather than wasting time at this stage worrying about your AdSense placement, you'll have plenty of time for that once you have got 10,000 unique hits per day!
