Living in the UK you ant avoid seeing something related to the TV program Big Brother as such as I keep telling myself that its a waste of time watching it and that its terrible TV i must admit it is easy to get sucked into watching bits here and there! Being an Internet geek i did take particular interest in the the story of Liam Young, the young entrepreneur who has built his Internet business up from scratch to apparently turning over £200,000 per year! Wondering how this was achieved i decided to o a quick Google search and came across many articles claiming Liam to be a Fake which may of the facts and figures do make sense! This one for example seems so make sense from Digital SPY discussing figures about the business, here's a quick rundown.

Liam claims to have done business with 250,000 businesses, if we say that maybe he is hosting a conservative 25% of these businesses it means he could possibly have 62,500 subscriptions which works out £3.12 per site per year. That's very cheap hosting and with a staff of 12 to pay that TURNOVER would only cover a yearly wage of £16,6000 leaving no profit? Clearly the numbers do not add up, and also after looking a little deeper it appears that Liam is only reselling domains as his actual website Oxytechnologies is registered by Tucows and the hosting in whatever form is provided by Homestead which if you were running your own hosting business i expect you would have your own bank of servers in either your own building or in a rented space. Not only that but it appears that Liams website was built using Homesteads own "website builder" just by looking that the page code, is this the work of a successful entrepreneur?

So what is the story, everything seems a little flakey here and a £200,000 turnover seems a little low for the amount of businesses Liam claims to have worked with. For all we know this could be a very elaborate PR stunt where Liam has managed to con his way into the Big Brother house and fool all of the producers. If this is so then i take my hat off to the lad, but if it is all exposed as a serious scandal then his reputation could be destoyed.
