Drink a pint in less than 1 minute party trick!

pint party trickEveryone loves party tricks, well nearly everyone and if your reading this I'm sure you are one of those people who are up for a laugh. Earlier this year I posted How to make someones arms pass through the floor which is a fantastic and quite frankly freaky trick! This one is a little different, this is more of a proposition bet where you can win money, than a straight forward trick, be warned, only try this one someone you know will react well as the "volunteer" (culprit) will look a bit foolish in the end!

The Proposition

Whilst gathered around the table in the pub, club, cafe in fact anywhere where you can have a drink you ask if anyone is in for a challenge, and if they win they will get either money or their drinks bought for them for the rest of the evening, and if they loose the tables are reversed. You victim steps up to the challenge and all you say is "I bet you cannot drink this pint in a minute" (feel

free to substitute pint for a large drink of your choice). There are no catches, all they need to do is let you time them. Now get your watch ready and start timing them, 99% of people will be able to down the drink in around 30 seconds, most, allot quicker as they want to show off. Once they have finished they will place their glass on the table and say something like "that was easy, now pay up"!

The Trick

This is where the trick comes into place. You specifically said "I bet you cannot drink that pint in a minute", you didn't say any less or any more, you specified 1 minute! As your volunteer (victim) digest these words you take the money away that you placed on the table earlier and say something like, "OK then get the round in then" as you get a rapturous laughter from everyone else!

This is a great party trick but as i mentioned earlier, you must pick someone who is a good sport and doesn't ind looking a bit of a fool for the sake of a little entertainment. And for gods sake don't pick the biggest meanest guy at your table, bad things can happen! lol. If you liked this I'd highly recommend trying to catch the series called The Real Hustle on tv (It's not on DVD yet) which is full of lots of scams and party tricks like this, performed for real on the unsuspecting public of the UK. Or if you like a little light reading I'd also recommend Paul Zennon's book 100 ways to win a tenner this is full of loads (100 actually) of proposition party tricks like this! Check out the Amazon link for more details!

WARNING:

If you buy this as a present for someone make sure you dont get scammed by them! LOL>>>

Hiding the elephant - how magicians invented the impossible!

I thought I would share with everyone today one of my favorite books which sits proudly on my bookshelf. I have had this for about 3 years now but its one of those books which you keep coming back to again and again.

Hiding the elephant: How magicians invented the impossible and learned to disappear!

By: Jim Steinmeyer

magic_trick_hiding_the_elephant.jpg

JIm Steinmeyer is one of the worlds top illusion builders and has created effects for many famous magicians. Not only that he is also a fantastic writer and a story teller, and who better to tell the story of the history of magic than Jim himself. This book takes you to the very beginning's of theatrical magic and tells the story of how magic tricks were done and implemented in the beginning. And finishes off with how Houdini managed to make an elephant (named Jennie) disappear in stage in-front of thousands of spectators. This book does contain the secrets of how these tricks were done but also explains the showmanship which is what made the illusions "Magic".

The book focuses on illusions and optical effects and does a fantastic job of how these were tailored and refined over the years, along with telling the story of various magicians careers which go along with these tricks. IF you have ANY interest in magic or even just an inquisitive mind then I cant recommend this book highly enough!

Google Advertising Tools - Monetize your website!

google-advertising-tools.gif

Earlier this year I was in the process of upgrading one of my websites Euro Lottery Winner and decided to educate myself on SEO, upon browsing the local bookshops i came across Google Advertising Tools Published by O'reilly, and due to the fact that once i started flicking through i couldn't stop reading it, so i bought it there and then! It was exactly what i was looking for, being relatively new to SEO (search engine optimization) the book contained everything I needed to know to get started!

Your Ad Here

From the very basics of site layout and navigation this book shows you how build a popular site from the ground up, it also holds nothing back in telling you that when promoting your website it can take a long long time to climb the search engine rankings! Thats what i love about this book, the completely honest approach in how things work. Further into the book you discover sections on "Affiliate Programs" and "Making money with AdSense" which is a great read for anybody who wants to build and promote their own blog or website!

Make Money With Shares!

It was November 2005 when i first decided to take the plunge and invest in the stock market to try and earn some extra money. I registered with Barclay's on-line banking and once all of the appropriate pieces of paper were signed sent off and stamped i had my very own trading platform where i could buy and sell shares in my own time with. My first trade was in a company called Gasol and armed with £400 i made my first trade and bought shares in gasol, purely on the premise that the oil and gas prices were going up! That was a stupid move to guess the share price but i got lucky, within 3 weeks the price had jumped up 50% turning my £400 into £600, feeling content with a massive gain like that i decided to sell and re-invest. Over the following 6 month, i made a series of un-educated trades and dwindled my healthy £600 down to £250.

Now let that be a lesson, dont do what i did and rush in, this is easy to say in hind sight as everyone i know who trades shares has done the same. It was after this loss i decided to educate myself and it was then when i came across the book "The Naked Trader" written by Robbie Burns. This is an exceptional read for ANYONE who is even slightly interested in shares and the stock market and has a great section about "Paper Trading". This is pretend trading on paper to see how it all works, before you take the plunge! Another great resource is the Mottley Fool, an on-line resource for traders and anything money/investment related, Fool have a great bookstore and another favorite of mine is the UK Investment Guide which again is similar to The Naked trader but goes much more in depth.

Ok, so the title of this blog is "Make money With Shares" and since mid 2006 i have been making money with shares, not allot but i have managed make about a 20% return in the past 12 month. Thats 4 times the average savings account rate!

OK, so here , a brakdown of how to make money from shares….

Step 1- educate yourself, visit the Fool website and learn the basics of investing!

Step 2 - Read the two books i mentioned above plus this one Learn To Earn

Step 3 - Paper trade, choose several shares using the techniques you have learned and follow their rise and fall over the next few month.Step

Step 4 - Only you can decide when your ready to trade for real!

Step 5 - Only trade with money you can afford to loose, there is a possibility is there that you will loose a large amount of your stake!

Step 6 - DO NOT RUSH INTO THINGS AND BE SKEPTICAL ABOUT TIPSTERS!!

Remember it's better to make smaller gains over a longer period than take big risks, the key to this is teaching yourself and learning what moves the price of a share. Forums are a good place to get a good insight, but be wary of people recommending shares even if they sound genuine. I hope that this has given a very basic insight on how to go about trading in shares, I cant recommend the three books mentioned above highly enough so here they are again!

The Naked Trader by Robbie Burns
Learn To Earn by Peter Lynch & John Rothchild
The Mottley Fool UK Investment Guide by David Berger

All the best

Andy
